We Continue To Advance The Art And Science Of Caring For Medically Fragile And Special Needs Children In Their Homes And Communities.
“PPHC believes a “medical home” that allows for high quality, home-based nursing and therapies for medically fragile and/or special needs children is not just a physical house, but rather a philosophical approach and commitment to comprehensive post-acute care that facilitates partnerships between patients, families, clinicians, hospitals, ancillary care providers, community resources and payors. We support and promote care that is accessible, dependable, comprehensive, compassionate, coordinated, transparent and culturally effective.”
Company Background & History
Professional Pediatric Health Care (PPHC) was originally founded in 1979 by two pediatric nurses who saw an unmet need in the community to provide private duty nursing in the home for the medically fragile pediatric population in Metro Denver as an alternative to long-term hospitalizations. The company was later purchased by a former Air Force healthcare administrator, Doug Dawson, and his wife, Kristi, who continued that clinical and customer service focus while growing the company to become the largest of its kind in Colorado.
Today we are Colorado’s leading provider of pediatric only home-based, private duty nursing (PDN), physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy. We currently serve over 1,500 families along the Colorado Front Range and surrounding communities with offices in Denver, Colorado Springs, Loveland.
In response to the expanding pediatric service opportunities due to technological and medical advancements, along with health care reforms, the Dawson’s found a majority partner, a Denver-based private equity and growth capital firm, Bow River Capital Partners (BRCP), who along with the Dawson’s formed a parent company, Pediatric Home Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (PHHCH) to help provide additional funding and expertise to meet those growth drivers. The addition of an experienced, quality/growth-driven CEO in combination with a local management team with more than a century of collective experience in the pediatric home care sector, along with a team of passionate and experienced pediatric specialty caregivers, has uniquely positioned PPHC to successfully provide and expand our services and enter new markets, both in terms of geography and complementary service lines. In December of 2014, PHHCH acquired a leading pediatric outpatient and home based therapy provider in Houston, Reach Therapy Services, further expanding both its geographic footprint and adding another high quality and complementary service line in outpatient, clinic based pediatric therapy.
